On September 28, 2026, Android Authority reported that stable One UI 9 is reaching the Galaxy S25 series, the Z Fold7 and the Z Flip7 in South Korea. It is the first time the update has moved beyond the S26 line. This piece updates our last one on the shifting schedule, and the short version for an owner outside Korea is this: it is not on your phone yet, but the wait now has a start.
What changed since the last piece
Until now the S25, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 had no shipped update, only dates. Samsung's Thailand newsroom had listed September 28 for them, then removed the date on September 22 and said "within September", as that piece described. The original explainer, which phones get One UI 9 and when, had flagged those dates as one country's schedule and not a global one. Today a build exists on real phones. That is the change.
How solid is it? Android Authority says the S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra release in Korea is confirmed, and the Fold7 and Flip7 release is reported through leaker screenshots and firmware details, reaching phones enrolled in the beta program. I did not find a Samsung newsroom post announcing the S25 release as of this writing. Treat the Korean S25 release as real and the Fold7 and Flip7 details as reported.
What it does not tell you
Korea is Samsung's home market and it usually goes first. A Korean release is not a US, European or Latin American date. The S26 line shows the gap: Samsung began sending One UI 9 to it on September 16, and the first US carrier build, T-Mobile's S26 Ultra, arrived on September 23. Android Authority gives no date for other countries.
Carrier and region variants matter too. The same S25 can be a different software branch depending on whether it is carrier-locked or unlocked, and each branch is certified on its own schedule. If a friend in another country has the update and you do not, that is normal, not a fault on your phone.
Staggering is also how Samsung normally ships a major version, which is why two owners of the same model can be days or weeks apart. It means reports of problems from early adopters tend to appear before your phone gets its turn, so there is no cost to reading them first and no reason to feel behind.
What to do on an S25, Z Fold7 or Z Flip7
Almost nothing. Check Settings, Software update, Download and install, and do it when you have a stable connection and a charged battery. Back up first, as with any major Android version. Do not sideload a Korean build onto a phone from another region: it can leave you off your own carrier's update track, and Samsung has not said such a build is supported.
For older phones the position has not moved. Samsung's Thailand schedule, as reported, mentioned October for the S23 FE, and outlets have guessed at the S24 line and older foldables. None of that is a Samsung global commitment, and this piece does not upgrade it into one.
What changes when the update lands is the same list as before: Now Brief cards, a Warranty and Care panel, wider Scam Detection where it is available. Refinements, not a different phone. The update is worth installing when it arrives and not worth chasing before then.
The Galaxy update is one of several this month where a published date meant less than a shipped build; Windows 10's quiet one-year extension is another. And if your Galaxy is a foldable, the Z Flip8 already ships with One UI 9, which is what the Flip7 is now waiting to catch up to.
